Roll grinding is a specialised process used to improve the precision, finish and dimensions of metal cylinders. This machining method is essential to ensure the perfect fit of cylinders in a wide range of industrial, automotive and aerospace applications.
Our roll grinding solutions
Over the years, Tiac has developed an ever-evolving product line capable of achieving different degrees of finish with a substantial reduction in the number of grinding passes. The mix of sintered corundum, silicon carbide and other noble abrasives gives the wheel its self-regenerating power and makes it possible to significantly reduce sharpening operations. This results in a longer tool life and therefore a significant reduction in machining costs.
The research and tests carried out over the years at the most important steelworks in Italy and abroad have made it possible to develop mixtures that make it possible to obtain the finishes required by customers and the use of our grinding wheels on the most commonly used materials.
Our grinding wheels in different specifications are suitable for both hot and cold rolling cylinders.
Tiac is involved in the roll grinding process from the earliest stages, accompanying the cylinder from its forging to the grinding operations in the rolling cycle.

Insight: the machining process for roll grinding
During the roll grinding process, cylinder blanks are mounted on special grinding machines that use grinding wheels to remove excess material. This process produces cylinders with precise dimensions, smooth surfaces and high quality finishes. Roll grinding can be used to correct any deformations, imperfections or wear, restoring their optimum performance.
