Grinding wheels for bilateral grinding

Bilateral grinding is an advanced machining process used to achieve extremely tight dimensional tolerances and high quality surface finishes on both sides of a part. This grinding method is particularly suitable for workpieces requiring absolute precision and a flawless finished surface.

Our Bilateral Grinding solutions

Our bilateral grinding wheels are widely used in operations such as: spring grinding, piston ring grinding, grinding of bearing rings, grinding of connecting rods, brake discs and so on.

Benefits of bilateral grinding

  • EXTREME PRECISION
Bilateral grinding allows for incredibly tight dimensional tolerances to be achieved, guaranteeing absolute precision on both sides of the workpiece.
  • SUPERIOR SURFACE FINISH
Thanks to its ability to remove material evenly, bilateral grinding produces high-quality surface finishes, ideal for applications requiring a smooth, defect-free surface.
  • OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY
The bilateral grinding process is efficient and precise, reducing machining times and optimising overall production costs.

Insight: the machining process for bilateral grinding

During the bilateral grinding process, the workpiece is clamped between two rotating grinding wheels or between a grinding wheel and a backing plate that move simultaneously in opposite directions. Bilateral grinding wheels can be single or work in opposing pairs. This allows both workpiece surfaces to be ground simultaneously, ensuring perfect symmetry and unprecedented dimensional precision. Accurate control of machining parameters ensures uniform, repeatable results on every part.
